Threee-quarters of the garbage in the Pacific garbage belt is mainly formed by the accumulation of garbage larger than 5 cm, of which at least 46% is composed of fishing nets. Therefore, the recycling process of marine fishing nets is a win-win situation: it protects wildlife and benefits local fishing communities. At the same time, it also creates a second life for abandoned nylon waste.
Recycled nylon can be used to create sustainable consumer products.
